Congratulations to our client Jacob Nash, Head Designer of Bangarra Dance Theatre, for his stunning work on the set design for Bangarra’s production of Ochres.
Ochres, first performed in 1994, became an iconic and pivotal performance piece for Bangarra leading to sold-out shows nationally. For its 21st anniversary return season, Bangarra’s Artistic Director Stephen Page has refreshingly revived this timeless work which depicts the ancient narratives of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through a fusion of Indigenous Australian symbolism and modern choreography.
This four-part contemporary dance work – yellow, black, red and white – portrays the four coloured clays of the earth which have been used ceremonially by Indigenous Australians for millenia, and interprets the spiritual significance of this ancient tradition.
Ochres played for a 2015 Sydney Special Season from 27 November – 5 December 2015 Carriageworks, Redfern
